2010 to-do list: item #1

Found on yes and yes

This is a good one to add to the New Year's resolutions...

  1. Sounds like a good mix to me. Here is my bread 'n butter list for 2010.

#1- Create a sense of urgency. Maybe you have lost your job. Gather yourself as best you can, create a clear plan and stay committed to it. Maybe you are in danger of being laid-off, merged-out or downsized. If you hear the train whistle, get off the tracks.

#2- Manage limited resources wisely. Be vigilant. What may appear to be a stockpile today could evaporate quickly. As the Irish saying goes: "may your right hand always be stretched out in friendship, never in want".

#3- Align your work with your values. Tired of your boss? Is the disorganization or your co-worker driving you crazy? Working in an environment that is uncomfortable for you based upon your own values system? Stop thinking that things will change. Maybe it is time to move on.

Shaky personal economic footing can spill over into the other important parts of your life with negative consequences. Assess your own situation and do what you can to keep that from happening. Remember: life is a short-term assignment and can end in the snap of one's fingers.

Best wishes for an abundant, healthy and meaningful 2010.
